Sadly Les Law, a stalwart of the Society, passed away on 16th February aged 76 of Alzheimer’s Disease. Les joined the Committee in 1994, having been a member of the Society for a few years before that. In 2002 he became Vice-Chairman of the Committee, a position he held for 8 years. Although stepping down from that role, he continued to be an active member and continued to organise the Leek and Onion Show and order the bulbs we buy and show at the Spring Show. For many years Les was responsible for sourcing and arranging for the judges for our Shows. He was also the provider of the Mulled Wine that proved so popular at our Christmas Social.
He is survived by his wife, son and daughter.
We will miss his presence and I would like to pay tribute to him for all the work he put in on behalf of the Society over the years.
Rod Hirst, Chairman
